    Anna Maria to star in “Fame”



    Anna Maria is shooting the remake of the 1980 movie “Fame,”  as ‘Joy Moy.’  The story tracks the failures and fortunes of super-ambitious young performers and their teachers as they navigate a school year at the prestigious High School for the Performing Arts in New York.

    Also starring are Kristy Flores, Paul Iacono, Paul McGill, Naturi Naughton, Kay Panabaker, Kherington Payne, Collins Pennie, and Walter Perez.  Thomas Dekker (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) and Debbie Allen  (who played dance teacher Lydia in the original movie and in the television series) are in negotiations to join the cast.

    Written by Allison Burnett and Aline Brosh McKenna, film  will be directed by choreographer Kevin Tancharoen and distributed by MGM.  Shooting is expected to begin late November, and the film is set to be released on Sept 25, 2009.
